About Baxter’s Pals
Hi I’m Sara - proud mum of three … one of them being Baxter of course.
We have had Baxter our nearly 9 year old Beagle since he was 8 weeks old. Like most beagles, Baxter is cheeky, food obsessed and always on the lookout for the next snack! He’s incredibly gentle with children, loves nothing more than sunbathing in the garden, relaxing on the sofa but most of all heading out for a walk especially if there’s a ball to chase!
However, his journey hasn’t always been straightforward. When he was 2 years old he was attacked by two other dogs whilst out walking. It left him feeling anxious around other dogs and walks became something he feared rather that enjoyed.
We worked extensively with a professional dog behaviourist, taking the time to rebuild his confidence. Today he loves walks again but giving him space around other dogs, advocating for him and respecting his boundaries allows him to feel safe and enjoy his walks without unnecessary stress.
This experience taught me so much about treating pets as individuals.
For the last 14 years, I’ve worked as a NHS Physiotherapist, a career I truly loved after graduating from university. But over time (with the help of Baxter) I realised I wanted to follow another passion - working with animals.
I’ve always loved being outdoors, keeping active and spending time with animals. Over the years I’ve had a variety of small animals.
I also believe that when you’re caring for someone else’s pet, you should never stop learning. That’s why I’ve completed my Advanced Pet First Aid Level 3 (VTQ) and I’m looking forward to completing my IMDT Professional Dog Walking Certification in October, ensuring I can provide the highest standard of care for your pets.
Starting Baxter’s Pals Pet Care isn’t just about walking dogs or caring for pets - it’s about building a business based on trust, compassion and treating every pet as if they were my own.
Whether you need dog walking, pet visits or someone to care for your furry family member while you have a night off, I’d love to have a chat about how Baxter’s Pals Pet Care can help.
